Solar plate etching is a contemporary print process that replicates the more traditional intaglio or etching. A light sensitive plate is etched using light rather than acid, and inked similar to an intaglio plate. The plate is then rolled through a press to transfer the image to paper.
FROM THE CENTER
Family-SPHINGIDAE or HAWK MOTH
The Achemon Sphinx moth is large, strong, fast and nocturnal. They can be found scattered across North America and on Colorado’s front range. They are similar to hummingbird moths in stature, with slightly different markings. This one graced my studio one day and quietly died on my table.

I have created large diptychs and triptychs by combining drawings I did as a child with depictions of celestial bodies colliding and exploding in outer space. The microcosmic world of a child meets the macrocosmic universe. The terrestrial sits adjacent to the celestial.
I have superimposed images of maps of the cosmos, brain synapses, sonograms, lightning, feathers, flocks of birds. These combinations and juxtapositions of sensory moments reflect the metaphysical world.
